OVERVIEW

The game is based in a world called Olyosa where mana exists abundantly until landlords began controlling the source of mana generation (a kind of flower). The core concept for the gameplay is to allow players enter inputs of different combinations to form different spells. This was my first project to implement prototypes with variables in Figma extensively.

Ideation: Concept Drafting

I began the project by writing every basic concepts about the game – the world's background setting, the main character, his motives, the goal of the game, and the core magic system.

Design Phase

In this game, magical elements are shown in the form of glyphs. Therefore glyphs are a key design element for this game. I paid extra attention to the designs to make sure they are each recognizable and cool.

Final product

This is the final in-game screen. The main focus of the view lays on the HUD at the bottom of the screen, where players can see their resources (health, mana, and gold) and see the input responses. The game is designed for PS5 and XBox controllers. To select an element, first press a D-pad to select a group, then press an action button to select the exact element.

Loosely designed in Figma and coded in Visual Studio Code by yours truly. Built with React Router and Tailwind CSS, deployed with Vercel. All text is set in the Inter typeface.
